With Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – Adm. John C. Harvey Jr., Commander, United States Fleet Forces Command (USFFC), has permanently relieved Capt. Owen Honors of his duties as commanding officer of USS Enterprise (CVN 65) for demonstrating poor judgment while serving as executive officer of that ship. …

It is the sworn duty of every person on that vessel to visit a lot more than rudeness on the enemy.

It is the Captain’s duty to bear the weight of his tactical decisions.

If he’s brash, in your face aggressive, and willing to unleash barbaric hell upon our enemies, then he is the right man for the job of skippering the USS Enterprise.

How many people on the planet have been even considered for that job, much less earned it?

We call them ‘military personnel’ to avoid the truth of the matter, that they are warriors.

Their job starts when talking ends, and we can’t forgive them any display of the courage it takes to do what we ask them?

We can forgive a sports star who profits from and enjoys violently murdering domestic animals, because he can throw a pass and run.

But we can’t forgive someone who has excelled at his life’s work protecting our freedoms, for making a video of nebulous taste?

This man is a warrior, and a damn fine one.

Firing him was not just the act of cowards, but stupid ones, at that.
